I was walking across Bristol yesterday and the driveway at Dean Manor made me think of this place. Dean Manor has dormers, but they could have been added after this pic. It still doesn't look big enough though. Everything looks so familiar, but can't place them.
This place was known as the Elmwood and was located on Main Street where the Queens County Museum is presently located. The Elmwood was demolished many years ago and the Armoury buildings were built. When the Armoury buildings were demolished the Queens County Museum was built. Apparently, large, wide floor boards from the Elmwood Hotel were used to repair floor boards in the Perkins House. I have a postcard of the Elmwood that reads " Rates Reasonable. Special rates by the week or for families. Excellent table. Quiet and homelike. C.Gordon Jones, Proprietor. It is important to note that the building that is now occupied by local dentists Tom & Blair Raddall was named the Elmwood, probably in memory of the real Elmwood that stood next door.
Pretty substanial house. Is it on Main St east of WSK Jones? Rick Kempton
